Often looking at other people’；s art we think…； oh， I wish I could do that…； but art journaling is not about trying to be like others. It’；s about being yourself and expressing yourself through art.？
Our Crew member， Candy Rosenberg shares with us a piece of her ‘；Tattered art journaling’；. Tattered because she used Tattered Angels paints and elements cut out of Tattered Tangles –；？a hand drawn collection of papers that will allow you to express yourself with these one-of-a-kind， black &； white illustrations. Printed on a unique “；faux-leather”； paper， these illustrations are waiting to be mistedfloral pillow shams， painted， penciled， inked， stamped， dyed…；the possibilities are endless. Candy used them to add layers and words to her art journal page.pillow cases floral
‘；These pages have a number of layers that include watercolored dictionary pages， paint， gesso， glimmer mist， stamps， various inks and glam along with hand lettering.？I had no idea where I was going with this page， I had a bunch of supplies gathered about the table and just started to play. I knew I wanted to watercolor the Tattered Tangles and integrate them on to the page. This really made the page stand out.’； –； explains Candy.

After watercoloring several dictionary pages， cut them up into random pieces.
Adhere the pieces with decoupage glue onto the journal pages.
Outline the pieces with a brush pen then smudge with a brush dipped in water； this gives dimension.
Add random stamps on both pages. You can also？add white gesso all around as well to lighten up the background.
Add hand cut paint brushes from Canvas Corp paper. Color the pieces with watercolors.？Add some watercolored pieces of Tattered Tangles and lots more stamping and handwriting to complete the project.
You can use any colours you like， depending on your mood and the theme you are going for. With the vast choice of shades and cover amongst the Tattered Angels paints， you don’；t have to limit yourself in any way! Remember that the main idea when working on an art journal is to have fun and let your？creativity free!

Last week’s?Remodelista?post about the shipping pallet shelving Olabisi Winery’s devised for their tasting room opened our eyes to an essential quality of shipping pallets we had overlooked: stacked, they make instant flat storage. Pallets are only about 5 inches high, with a natural space for bottles (wine, soda, olive oil – anything) or flat items like papers and artwork. All you have to do is stack the pallets. At Olabisi, they use jelly roll pans as drawers. (You could apply this idea to the desks we showed a few weeks back.) At Uline, you can find pallets in different dimensions from 24 x 24 on up. We envision painting new pallets for a more graphic look, say, really dark gray…
